Helen Opie was born in England, was taken to the US when World War ll broke out, and immigrated here in response to a dream she had several years before and in celebration of the US bicentennial slogan "Love it or Leave it”.Now, living in Granville Ferry, she is a household name in Annapolis Royal, especially in the artist community.
This new series of works by Helen was inspired her emotional response to a song by Rose Vaughan that is the Exhibit’s namesake: Stone and Sand and Sea and Sky. Helen wrote in her artist statement: “These paintings arise from my own feeling of connection to the Entity of this world when I am on the shore”.
